Videojuegos Volume 1 is the first of two videogame rock cover albums created by Bora Karaca under his band's name, Cojum Dip.[2]

Both the albums were released on the same day, the other being Videojuegos Volume 2, and making up the only two other releases Cojum Dip has officially made, appearing two years before the band's self-titled Cojum Dip (Album).

The albums were originally released as a YouTube and Soundcloud playlist containing both volumes (except Intro), plus covers of Pokémon Trainer Battle, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Level 1)[3], and, exclusively on Soundcloud, a cover of J-E-N-O-V-A from Final Fantasy VII entitled "Where's its $#&*&@ head?"[4]

Production

On the bandcamp page for the album, Bora states:

"Save for the drum embellishments as the sections repeat, I tried to go for authentic guitar reproduction of the 3 monophonic synth tracks to which the Mega Man games were limited. No guitar effects were used besides distortion.

That includes delay effects that were faked with the harmony doubling the melody, played a split second later. Or chorus effects by intentionally whacking the second guitar out of tune. Or "toms" played by the bass."[2]

Trivia

  • For some reason, the cover art of both volumes was updated between June 17th, 2020 and August 28th, 2020 to use a more hand-drawn style. [5][6]
