Rob Cantor’s Perfect 29 Celebrity Impressions [UPDATED]
AhHAH! Your leg, it’s caught in a bear trap! Otherwise known as a Cantor trap. Otherwise known as a hoax! Rob has just released “The Making-Of ’29 Celebrity Impressions…” showing you all the amazing talent and skill that went into creating what became a brief (too soon?) internet super-sensation, far out-performing what anyone had imagined. Boy, what an intense week it’s been. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did!
Original version of this article:
Since Rob released his first solo album back in April, he’s been hard at work non-stop on creating music videos to go along with the songs, each one impossibly more creative and fun than the next (with the exception of “Ghost“). But his latest, for the song “Perfect” has got to be the most impressive. See below:
29 celebrity impressions. WHO KNEW??? I mean, I’ve heard him do Shakira a little bit before — but nothing like this. And some of his longtime friends have verified he’s displayed similar talents for years but, wow. Just wow.
Here’s the full list of impressions heard: Randy Newman, Jack Black, Kermit the Frog, Louis Armstrong, Christopher Lloyd, Willie Nelson, Bono, Smeagol/Gollum, Steve Buscemi, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Peter Griffin, Gilbert Gottfried, Ray Romano, Adam Sandler, Gwen Stefani, Patrick Warburton, Ian McKellen, Shakira, Britney Spears, Jeff Goldblum, Christopher Walken, Jon Lovitz, Christina Aguilera, Cher, Flipper, a trumpet, Bjork, Bob Dylan, and finally an impression of himself.
Oh yeah, our beloved Andrew Horowitz accompanies Rob on piano (he co-wrote the song with Rob). Can’t forget Andy. 🙂
And how’s the video doing? Well, since it went up about 7 hours ago, it’s been picked up by the likes of The Huffington Post, The Laughing Squid, Michigan Radio (a personal highlight of Rob’s), and is currently on the front page of Reddit r/videos. In fact, as I type this, it’s also on the actual front page (top 100) of Reddit… TWICE!
I almost feel like publishing this now would be premature, seeing as it’s just the beginning. But I’ll update with any additional big coverage it receives.
Don’t forget, Rob’s seen his fair share of web virality before. Aside from his work with Tally Hall, his songs “Shia Labeouf” and “Christian Bale Is At Your Party” both got a lot of attention, the former doing so ten-fold. All things considered, the man knows how to make something with huge mass appeal.
So? What do YOU think about this incredible video?
